Now you might be wondering what the Atharva Veda is. Let me walk you through the humane manual. The Atharva Veda was written between 1000 and 800 BCE. The procedures of daily life are well enumerated in this Veda. There are four Vedas, which are Rig, Yajur, Sama, and Atharva. Of the four Vedas, the Rig Veda is sought to increase knowledge in oneself, the Yajur Veda shines light on the right types of endeavors and duties, the Sama Veda inspires worship of the ideal being, and the Atharva Veda shows the way to know the individual psyche or self and attain power in the world and within. It provides a broad conceptual framework to understand human nature within a worldview. It proposes the idea of the mind, its normal nature, and a set of supportive techniques to expand personality unification and overcome mental tribulations. The cardinal approach of the Atharva Veda is mental or psychological. The Atharva Veda proliferates practical advice. It provides solutions to everyday needs and hardships of a human. The advice is for the attainment of Brahma, i.e., higher planes, on how to achieve atma-bal (ego strength) at lower levels, and on how to triumph over the negative thought process of oneself. The Atharva Veda is also integrative in such a sense that it treats the body, mind, and soul as a complete entity. The process which strengthens the body also strengthens the mind.
ABNORMAL BEHAVIOR IN ATHARVA VEDA
ABNORMAL BEHAVIOR IN ATHARVA VEDA
Prior to beginning any conversation about atypical behavior in Atharva Veda, these aspects have to be kept in mind: Atharva Veda pacts together many subjects, however the treatment is so brief that at times only hints are specified. The aim of Atharva Veda is the welfare of humanity. The approach and treatment to matter thousands of years ago, is of course different but once you dive into the depths of Atharva Veda, you’ll find bliss scattered there. You simply cannot ignore or underestimate the wisdom of sages who lived in jungles and meditated to find wisdom, some four to five thousand years ago.
The Basic Concepts
Atharva Veda comprises some basic notions which were taken up by the Ayurveda and are frequent even today among the practicing “Vidyas(correct knowledge).” These concepts are the Gunas. According to the Atharva, Veda the human body is composed of 3 basic “gunas”(qualities/elements), Vata(wind), Pitta(bile), Kaph(phlegm). From birth these elements are prevalent in every human body in a balanced way. The harmony of elements has to be preserved throughout life’s journey. The symmetry of these elements means normalcy (no disorder), while any disturbances or disequilibrium of these gunas causes abnormal conditions.
Mental Health
Like the body, the mind is also composed of three gunas (elements). These are called Sattva (true/pure), Rajas (erotic), Tamas (the black/darkness). These gunas of the mind must also remain in a state of harmony and if there’s any imbalance in these elements mental disorders arise. Of these three elements Sattva is unadulterated and true, as it never gets corrupted. Rajas denote sexuality, pleasure, and enjoyment. T amas literally means darkness. It is the lowest tendency of destruction. Although having only the sattva guna is also not normal. Rajas and tamas may increase or decrease to a certain degree. In both ways, when there is an excess or lack of these two gunas the person becomes divergent. Normality means having all these three gunas (elements) in a balanced manner. According to Atharva Veda, the doshas (corruption) of Rajas and Tamas give rise to mental imbalances, hence the doshas must be demoralized. Atharva Veda has been expanded in Ayurveda and yoga literature. It has shown remedies for overall health and well-being. The Atharva Veda describes normality as wellas severe forms of irregularity, with ways to help through personality improvement. The Atharva Veda is full of philosophy and psychology. It aims at the welfare of humanity. It helps a human to live a full life of blissfulness. The approach of Atharva Veda is directly concerned with chitta (mind, body, spirit). The knowledge of the three Vedas (Rig, Yajur, and Sama) purifies the energies (vanis), while the Atharva Veda purifies and energies the manas (mind). Atharva vedas aim is synthesis. This union is of body, mind, and soul as a vital force and cosmic energy – Atman and Paramatma (Brahma) which is consciousness …..
